I-70 Northwest Development is engaged in a capital campaign to construct a multi-purpose building adjacent to the new 12-unit development. The building is 4,308 square feet on a 102 ft x 133 ft parcel of land in North St. Louis. The building will contain a 1,626 square feet office for the organization and a 2,682 square feet adult daycare center, which will be owned and operated by the organization.
A 4-station computer lab and community meeting space are included in plans for the office to provide after-school activities for youth. The adult day care facility will offer an array of services for seniors 65 years and older such as therapeutic activities, exercise, health monitoring, social services, personal care services, meals, transportation, nursing services, medical management, caregiver support services and rehabilitation therapy. Based upon licensing requirements approved by the Department of Health and Senior Services, the Adult Day Care Services will serve up to 24 participants. This project will create 7 full time new jobs with benefits in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
The daycare will contain an activity area, work station, accessible restrooms, dining room quiet area, office, examination and storage room. A combination kitchen/break room will be shared with the adjoining offices of I-70 Northwest Development Corporation.
The $800,000 project is expected to start construction by the spring of 2009 and achieve completion by the fall of 2009. Funding sources include a bank loan, government grant, charitable donations, business and individual donations and cash from the organization.
